SWIMMING AND DIVING
This past weekend, the Saints Swim and Dive team had another successful state meet at the Class 1 State Championships. The meet began with 1-Meter Diving, where senior Captains Annie Fox and Caroline Schneithorst combined for 19 points. Annie placed third, the highest that any Villa diver has ever placed, with a score of 372.10, and Caroline placed 14th with a score of 330.6. Congratulations to both on their state performances and outstanding careers.
Villa started off the swimming part of the meet with a season's best in the 200 Medley Relay, going 1:58.23 and finishing 18th overall. Liza Brown, Soleil Nazar, Kate Fesler, and Katherine Roderick comprised the team.
Madelyn Schoedel was the School's lone individual qualifier and swam both the 50 and 100 Freestyle. In the 50 Free, she set a school record of 24.05 and placed third. Madelyn would follow suit with another third-place finish in the 100 Free, with the third fastest time in school history at 52.57.
In the 200 Freestyle Relay, the Saints finished 11th place in a season's best of 1:44.3. The team included Madelyn Schoedel, Liza Brown, Kate Fesler, and Katherine Roderick. This same group of swimmers made up the 400 Freestyle team that finished 19th in a season's best of 3:53.15, shaving five seconds from their previous best!
Overall, Villa finished 14th of 41 teams, with a grand total of 63 points.
BASKETBALL
The Saints lost to the Cor Jesus Chargers last week. Paige Jackson led the Saints in scoring with 13 points, and she grabbed three rebounds. Followed by Ryan Harper who scored four points and grabbed seven rebounds. Grace Benac and Olivia Gehm had three rebounds each. Isabel Behr had two rebounds, and Alice Irvin had one. The Saints will take on Rosati-Kain this afternoon and will keep fighting.
ASH 5K & FUN RUN
Please join Head of School Michael F. Baber, Athletic Director and Coach Tim Deines, and members of the Cross Country and Track and Field teams for a community 5K and fun run supporting the Academy of the Sacred Heart. The run will begin at 8 am Saturday, March 27, at the Academy in St. Charles. Registration is $30 until February 28 and you will receive a t-shirt and a medal.
SPRING SPORTS
Lacrosse, Soccer, and Track and Field will begin their seasons next Monday, March 1; Intramural Tennis begins on March 8. To help us prepare for the upcoming spring season, students planning to try out for a spring sport are asked to complete the interest form below.
