Kate Fesler led all Villa players at the Angel Classic which was played at St. Albans Country Club on Wednesday afternoon. Kate shot a 90 over the hilly, 18-hole layout and placed 24th out of 87 golfers. She was followed by Kate Decker with a 107, Emily Yn with a 110, Ryan Harper 112, and Lilly George with a 117.
Kate Fesler shot a 43 to lead all Villa golfers on Thursday afternoon at the Missouri Bluffs Golf Course in a tri-match with St. Joseph's Academy and Visitation Academy. Villa shot a 202 over the front nine of the golf course. Emily Yn shot a 50 and Lulu Klebe shot a 51.
Villa played extremely well in the District Golf Tournament with Kate Fesler placing 2nd, Ryan Harper placing 8th, and Lulu Klebe placing 14th. All three Saints will advance to the state meet being held on October 19 and 20.

Last week, Cross Country participated in their conference meet, and Villa had a tough course to race. Runners were put to the test on their knowledge of hill work. Senior athlete Jada Minner fought through the up hills and had an amazing 200m kick to finish off her race. Their next race is at Jefferson Barracks this Friday. It will be their second time on that course this season.
Cross Country members finished with the following times at the conference meet:
Field hockey seniors—Milam Anthon, Arden Duffy, Suzy Keefer, Ellie Marshall, Cat McGlynn, Charlotte Schoen, and Taryn Tkachuk—were FIELD HOCKEY
The The Villa Field Hockey teams completed a difficult week of games with numerous wins! The Varsity team defeated St. Joe by a score of 7-1, MICDS by a score of 2-0, John Burroughs by a score of 4-1, and Visitation by a score of 9-0. The JV team tied MICDS 1-1, defeated John Burroughs by a score of 1-0, and defeated Visitation by a score of 3-0. Both Varsity and JV displayed excellent teamwork, communication, and effort that resulted in the teams' successes. Shutouts were earned by the entire team and lead by goalkeepers Claire Douglass and Paige Jackson. The Varsity team is now 7-0 with 40 goals for and two goals against. Taryn Tkachuk and Gigi Edwards lead the area in goals with 1st ranked Taryn having 21 goals and 5th ranked Gigi having 5 goals. Gigi Edwards, Suzy Keefer, Georgia Leary, Milam Anthon, and Taryn Tkachuk are also all in the top 10 in St. Louis in assists for the season. Gigi and Suzy are ranked #2 and #3 in the area with 8 and 9 assists, respectively. Both Varsity and JV are back in action on this afternoon at Nerinx.
The Saints have advanced to the final 4 in the state for Class 1 tennis. TENNIS
In singles play, Lizzie Barlow won sectionals on Saturday 6-0, 6-0 to advance to the state tournament. The doubles team of Izzy Cancila and Liza Brown won in sectionals 6-1, 6-2 and will also advance to the state tournament.
On Monday in team tennis, Villa defeated Duchesne 5-0, and then defeated Marshall in the sectional final 5-0. The team is now in the final 4 in the state for Class 1 tennis.
The Saints will be competing the October 16 and 17 in individual state championships and on October 23 and 24 for team state championships.
VOLLEYBALL
Volleyball had a tough week playing two very aggressive teams in MICDS and Oakville. Varsity lost a tough five set match to MICDS on Tuesday giving it their all but falling just short in the fifth set 12-15. Friday brought an extremely tough match against a very defensive heavy Oakville team.
The JV team had a good second week of games defeating MICDS but losing to Oakville. Grace Benac had some great serving to put the Saints ahead in the MICDS match.
Varsity and JV look to bounce back this week with matches against St. Joe today and St. Pius on Wednesday.
The C team is working hard and improving every day. Even though the team lost to MICDS and Oakville this past week, they have shown major improvement and are ready to face St. Joe this afternoon.
