SUPERIOR GENERAL VISIT
Next week, we have a very special group of Sisters from the Society of the Sacred Heart's Mother House in Rome visiting our campus. Sr. Barbara Dawson, the Superior General of the Society, is traveling to visit Sacred Heart schools in the United States and Canada Province along with members of her Central Team. We are honored that Sr. Dawson will be at Villa Duchesne and Oak Hill School on Tuesday, October 15.
Sr. Dawson's Central Team includes RSCJ from India, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Mexico. They will be joined by the United States and Canada Provincial, Sheila Hammond, RSCJ, and member of the USC Provincial Team, Maureen Glavin, RSCJ.
While our guests are here on Tuesday, they would like to have as much student interaction as possible. They will join our student community in Espacio, followed by class visits, a tour, and an all-school prayer service. These interactions reveal the Society's commitment to international unity and increase understanding and connection between Sacred Heart students in the United States and Canada and the Society. In the spirit of being one Body, the Central Team wants to know its members as well as the students and educators of the Sacred Heart and learn from them and their reality.
ERB TESTING | GRADES 7 & 8
Students in grades 7 and 8 will be taking the ERB test beginning Tuesday afternoon October 15. The ERB test will be administered electronically and broken into small sections throughout the week. Please ensure that your daughter has her computer and computer charger during the week as testing will be administered through computers each afternoon.
DANGERS OF VAPING | DR. EISENBEIS On October 16, Dr. Jack Eisenbeis will speak with our upper school students about the dangers of vaping and e-cigarettes. According to a 2019 NIDA survey, the teen rate of e-cigarette use has doubled since 2017. The incidence of past month vaping has risen, with 25% of 12th graders, 20% of 10th graders, and 9% of 8th graders reporting that they have vaped within the past month. We want to raise awareness of the dangers among our students and discuss with them the importance of taking charge of their health and their choices. Please take this opportunity to speak with your children about the dangers of vaping and e-cigarette use. Thank you for partnering with us to keep our students safe!
