VILLA WELCOMES NEW VARSITY BASKETBALL COACH Mesho (pronounced Me-sha) Morrow will join the Villa Duchesne coaching staff as Varsity Basketball Head Coach for the 2019-20 school year. Ms. Morrow was an Honor Society student and a three-sport athlete at Lincoln Senior High in East St. Louis where she received the All American Athlete Award in 1984 for performing well in all three sports. Upon graduation, she attended Kansas University on a full 4-year basketball scholarship. In her senior year, she became a starter and was voted as a captain of the team. Ms. Morrow helped lead the team to two consecutive Big 8 Tournament Championships as well as two consecutive second round NCAA Tournament appearances. In her senior year, the team lost to Louisiana Tech, who won the National Championship that year. Pursuing her passion for basketball helped Coach Morrow discover her purpose and eventually led her in to ownership of the St. Louis Women's Pro Development Basketball Team for five years. During that time she also coached at McCluer South-Berkeley High School. Coach Morrow believes that character development, teamwork, and learning life lessons from the game of basketball are key performance factors for high school students so she makes those part of her daily training routine. Coach Morrow said, "I love teaching life through this game and teaching young women how to play the game—teaching how to win at playing this game—and I look forward to doing the same at Villa."
