Varsity lacrosse battles St. Joe. Photos courtesy of Dave Mack. LACROSSE Varsity lacrosse had a successful week ending with a 1-1 record. The team faced Parkway West Tuesday at home and won 16-12. They then faced St. Joe Thursday at home and lost a close game, 8-9. Varsity's overall record is a strong 3-3. Ellie Marshall and Maria Adamitis continue to lead the area in points per game as number 1 and number 3 in the standings. The team is currently ranked 12th in the state. JV lacrosse also went 1-1 this week, defeating Parkway West 7-6 at home last Tuesday and losing to St. Joe 9-4 Thursday. Both teams look forward to strengthening their skills with away games against Cor Jesu this afternoon. Varsity plays at 4 pm, JV at 5:30 pm. Go Saints!
SOCCER Varsity soccer defeated O'Fallon Christian, last year's Class 2 State Champions, by a score of 5-0 last week. Photos courtesy of Dave Mack. The Saints earned a strong, MWAA conference victory, 2-0, over Cor Jesu on Wednesday at home on Holthaus Field. Katie Rodrigues scored both goals for Villa and Emma St. John played tremendous in goal. This was the seventh-straight win for Varsity and they outscored their opponents 22-1 during this streak. Varsity continues winning streak with win over St. Vincent's. Photos courtesy of Dave Mack. On Friday, the Varsity team extended their winning streak to eight with their fifth-straight shutout. Villa defeated last season's MSHSAA Class 1 state champion and the currently second ranked St. Vincent's by a score of 1-0. Ally Bowers converted on a corner by Katie Rodrigues halfway through the second half to ensure the victory for the Saints. Emma St. John recorded another shutout. The Saints are currently ranked 10th in the Class 2 State Soccer Poll. JV soccer defeated O'Fallon Christian by a score of 9-1 last week. Grace Oexeman, Ava Simon, and Anna Wiss each scored two goals. Arden Duffy, Mary Kate Stephens, and Ellie Reardon each scored a goal as well.
TRACK & FIELD
The Villa track and field team competed in the MWAA Conference tournament on Saturday. The team placed 7th overall and there were many individual highlights! There were 12 over-all personal best marks in the meet. Caroline Schneithorst placed fifth in the long jump and the 100m Hurdles, Caroline Busch placed sixth in the 100m dash and fifth in the shot put, Alexandra Dalavirus placed eighth in the shot put, and the 4x800 relay consisting of Kate Decker, Lily Albitar, Lily George, and Katherine Johnson placed sixth.
LET'S GET PHYSICAL
A physical completed on or after February 1, 2019, is required for the 2019-2020 school year for all high school students. To guarantee that the physical meets the MSHSAA requirements, please use either the MSHSAA or Magnus physical forms. All other physicals will be approved or rejected based on the MSHSAA requirements.
