CYC BASKETBALL

As practice for their post-season play, the 7th grade Maroon and White teams faced their parents last week in a scrimmage and came away with an exciting, 16-15 victory. Thanks to all the parents who participated and are still very sore!

The 7th grade Maroon team faced a tall Holy Redeemer team in the semifinals of the Tom Elder Post-Season Tournament on Saturday and were tied at the beginning of the fourth quarter, 15-15. Villa ended the game on a strong 10-6 run to earn a 25-21 victory. On Sunday, in the championship game, the Saints defeated Immacolata, 21-8. Paige Jackson led all scorers with seven points. The champion team, coached by Rollin Jackson, John Mueller, and Tom Adamitis, consisted of Karie Adamitis, Olivia Gehm, Gaby Hobbs, Paige Jackson, Cat Mueller, Margo Schoen, Alex Todorovich, and Skye Washburn. Congratulations, Saints!

On Saturday morning, Villa faced St. Margaret of Scotland in the semifinals and lost a heartbreaker. In a back-and-forth game, Villa found themselves with a 28-27 lead in the final few seconds. St. Margaret of Scotland's guard rebounded a ball with 5 seconds remaining and, after just crossing mid-court, heaved a three pointer that went off the glass and in at the buzzer to down the Saints 30-28.
