Villa Duchesne Nuts and Bolts | February 21, 2019

Image
One of my favorite Sacred Heart quotes, which is attributed to Saint Madeline Sophie Barat, says that, "for the sake of one child, I would have founded the Society." Each of your daughters is that 'one child.' Each girl is a true gift to the school. She is unique in her strengths and talents and is recognized for her successes and contributions. It is because of the uniqueness of each girl that we as a school have a strong community.

I invite you to join me in celebrating your daughters. They are spiritual, academic-focused, socially aware, community-building young women who are learning to choose wisely their path and their role in the Villa community and the wider global community.

GLOBAL STUDIES SUMMER SEMINAR | SANTA FE

The Global Studies: Santa Fe seminar is an interdisciplinary study of the history and art of the American West. The seminar is designed to introduce students entering their junior year to themes in their upcoming United States History course and will be led by Fine Arts Chair Christine Sarra and Social Studies teacher Costan Spina.

The course will explore U.S. history and art through the lens of the American West. Students will experience the often-untold stories of cultures of the American West. From stories of Native Americans, to the Spanish and Mexican period, to the annexation by the United States, New Mexico offers a fascinating exploration of the complexity of U.S. history and art. The highlight of the course includes a four-day trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico. Class dates are May 30-31 and June 5, 2019; travel dates are June 1-4, 2019.

The seminar is limited to 12 students and registrations are due by Friday, March 15, with payment due by Sunday, April 28. A student's tuition must be current to register for school trips.

SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING

Even with enrollment in full swing, we still recognize the power behind your voice when promoting Villa Duchesne and Oak Hill School to the outside world. Please be sure that you "share" our posts on Facebook and Twitter! We want everyone to hear about all the great things we are doing. This will go far to spread our Sacred Heart Strong message. Bar none, the very best way to market a school is through parent and family networks. You are the authentic voice promoting our school to the outside world. You have family and friends (and they have family and friends, etc.) that may not have heard about all the great things we are doing here!

WEDNESDAY MORNING MASS

FIRST FRIDAY MASS & EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

On Friday, March 1, Oak Hill will celebrate First Friday Mass at 8:15 am followed by Benediction and exposition of the Eucharist until 3 pm. All are welcome to join the Oak Hill students for Mass or to visit anytime during the day to spend time in prayer and adoration with Our Lord.

While students, faculty, and staff will make visits throughout the day, parent volunteers are needed to ensure that the exposed Blessed Sacrament is never left unattended. For more information about serving, please contact Kelly Adamitis at kellyjadamitis@icloud.com.
