GRAFT COACH OF THE YEAR

Congratulations to Varsity Field Hockey Coach Kate Graft who was recently named Missouri's 2018 High School Coach of the Year by Max Field Hockey! Last fall, Coach Graft led the Villa Duchesne team to its second consecutive Midwest Field Hockey Championship. This is also the second consecutive year in which Max Field Hockey has recognized Coach Graft as Missouri's Coach of the Year.

SKIPPY KEEFER NOMINEES

Congratulations to seniors Emma St. John, Devyn LaCroix, and Brooke Behan who were nominated for the Skippy Keefer Award. The Skippy Keefer Award, named in honor of one of the founders of the Metro Women's Athletic Association (MWAA) and a longtime athletic director at John Burroughs School, is given annually to a senior female athlete within the MWAA league who exemplifies the qualities of athletic participation and excellence in sportsmanship. Our athletes were among those nominees honored on February 6 during a special dinner and ceremony.

SWIMMING AND DIVING

The swimming and diving team ended their season with a 102-77 dual-meet victory over Ursuline Academy. This weekend, the team heads to the state championship meet in St. Peters. Swimming events begin at 5 pm Friday, February 15. On Saturday, the diving competition begins at 9 am and swimming finals begin at 3 pm.

Congratulations to the following qualifiers headed to compete at state:

Individual qualifiers include Marly McNulty (100 breaststroke), Carly Fesler (50 free), Caroline Roderick (100 free), Annie Fox (diving), and Caroline Schneithorst (diving)
Relay qualifiers are Judy Clark, Hattie McNulty, and Kate Fesler with Harriett Hudspeth, Emily Knopf, Zoe Schoen, and Emily Yn as alternates.

BASKETBALL

Last Friday, Varsity faced a strong Westminster team and lost 20-60. Courtney Grewe scored seven points and Mollie Griesedieck scored five. Ava Gueck also scored five points and had five rebounds.

Last week, the JV team battled hard against St. Joe's but lost 41-15. Top scorer was Ava Gueck with eight point.The Saints will be hosting their annual "Pink" games on Tuesday, February 19. Pink t-shirts are being sold in La Boutique for $20 payable in cash or check from 11:30 am to 1 pm on school days while supplies last. Free-will donations will be accepted at the door. All proceeds will benefit Pink Ribbon Girls, an organization whose mission is to help ease the minds of individuals and families affected by breast & women's gynecological cancers with direct services and support.

SPRING SPORTS TRYOUTS

The spring season for lacrosse, soccer, and track and field begins Monday, February 25, with intramural tennis beginning Monday, March 4. Any student who wishes to try out for a team must be at the first session. In addition, all student-athletes must have a physical on file prior to the start of tryouts.
