Today and tomorrow we are having our third quarter conferences. This is your time to meet with teachers to review the first semester and look at the second semester. Strategies and goals will be discussed, and I encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity.
 
If you are a parent of a ninth or tenth grader, they will be having their Fall Ball tomorrow night, February 8. I know the girls are excited by the opportunity to be a part of this event.

GOOD NEWS

 

Our swimmers and divers competed in their Conference Meet at MICDS this past weekend. The girls did a great job with many personal times improved and our divers had high scores that will be added to their overall scores for the season.
 
The Show Choir traveled to Omaha for a Show Choir competition. They were outstanding with the audience giving them enthusiastic support. They spent most of the day today at our sister school in Omaha, Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart. The choir travels to Kansas City tonight and will perform at The Pembroke Hill School tomorrow.

PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES

 

Parent-student-teacher conferences begin this evening from 4 to 7 pm and continue tomorrow, February 8, from 7:30 am to noon. There is no school for students in grades 7-12 tomorrow, February 8. We encourage students to attend these conferences with their parents. All conferences will take place in Kenefick Gym. Please bring your conference confirmation from MyConferenceTime with you listing your scheduled appointments as we will not have access to individual student conference times.

Students in grades 7-12 will not have school:
  • Tomorrow, February 8, due to parent-student-teacher conferences. Students are encouraged to attend conferences with their parents.
  • Friday, February 15, and Monday, February 18, for the Presidents' Day weekend.

2019-2020 RE-ENROLLMENT CONTRACTS

 

We welcome the opportunity to partner with you again in the education of your children. On Friday, February 1, families eligible to re-enroll for the 2019-2020 school year were sent an email with the online re-enrollment instructions. We ask you to read and submit your Enrollment and Tuition Contract by Friday, February 22. Families are also required to send an enrollment deposit of $1,000 to the Business Office to complete the re-enrollment process.

ACT PREP COURSE

 

In preparation for the April 13 ACT, juniors are offered an opportunity to enroll in an ACT test prep course. Sessions will be held on Sunday afternoons and Tuesday mornings in March and early April. The cost is $325 per student and deadline to register is Thursday, February 28. Learn more and register today by selecting the Enrichment panel in the Reference Center on your Parent Portal.

DONATE DRESSES

 

Junior Molly McLaughlin is partnering with The Cinderella Project to make area high school girls' dreams come true. The Cinderella Project is every girl's fairy Godmother by providing prom dresses for girls who are unable to buy their own. Sponsored by Foster and Adoptive care of Saint Louis, girls in the foster care system will be supplied with a beautiful dress and accessories for their big day. Every young women deserves to feel like Cinderella at her prom! Please donate gently used prom dresses (long, short, bridal, formal, informal), shoes, and accessories. Donations may be dropped off at Mrs. Richardson's office through Friday, February 15. Help give local girls the prom experience they have always imagined. FATHER-DAUGHTER DINNER DANCE

 

All students in grades 7-12 are invited to attend the Father-Daughter Dinner Dance Saturday, March 2, at The Ritz-Carlton. If a student's father is unable to attend, we encourage her to bring an adult guest to the event. Reservation deadline is Thursday, February 21. Learn more and register …

PHYSICS LECTURE | WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY

 

Dr. James G. Miller, Washington University in St. Louis Professor, will be discussing physics and its role in diagnostic medicine from 10 to 10:45 am Saturday, February 16, at Crow Hall, Room 20, on the Danforth Campus. This is a free lecture intended for audience members age 10 and up and no knowledge of physics or medicine is required.

The gates open at 6:30 pm Friday, March 1, in Kenefick Gym for A Night at the Races. Spend an evening "betting" and cheering on six horse races that are broadcast "live" on jumbo screens. Come enter a derby hat contest, sip on mint juleps, and purchase raffle tickets for a chance at some fantastic items and experiences. Gather your friends, family, neighbors...all are welcome! Registration deadline is Monday, February 25, and all proceeds benefit the Sr. Mary Gray McNally Alumnae Scholarship. This event is for guests 21 or older. GLOBAL STUDIES SUMMER SEMINAR | SANTA FE

 

The Global Studies: Santa Fe seminar is an interdisciplinary study of the history and art of the American West. The seminar is designed to introduce students entering their junior year to themes in their upcoming United States History course and will be led by Fine Arts Chair Christine Sarra and Social Studies teacher Costan Spina.

 

The course will explore U.S. history and art through the lens of the American West. Students will experience the often-untold stories of cultures of the American West. From stories of Native Americans, to the Spanish and Mexican period, to the annexation by the United States, New Mexico offers a fascinating exploration of the complexity of U.S. history and art. The highlight of the course includes a four-day trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico. Class dates are May 30-31 and June 5, 2019; travel dates are June 1-4, 2019.

The seminar is limited to 12 students and registrations are due by Friday, March 15, with payment due by Sunday, April 28.

WEDNESDAY MORNING MASS

 

On Wednesday, February 13, we will pray for Black American religious. Mass begins promptly at 7:15 am in the Chapel and usually concludes no later than 7:35 am. Mass is celebrated most Wednesdays at 7:15 am in our Chapel when school is in session. Everyone in our school community is invited and encouraged to attend. View our 2018-2019 Mass Intentions list to see the specific intentions planned for each week.

ROSARY

 

All are welcome at 8 am each Wednesday when school is in session in our Chapel to offer the Rosary to Mater for her motherly protection of our children and for all the faculty, staff, and religious of this community who play such a critical role in nurturing and teaching our children.
