SWIMMING AND DIVING

Villa swim team had a strong showing at the Kirkwood Invitational. The team of Caroline Roderick, Marly McNulty, Hattie McNulty, Carly Fesler, and Kate Fesler improved their times in the 200 medley and free relays to be top 16 in class 1.

Marly McNulty improved her 100 breaststroke to be in the state qualifying rankings. Carly Fesler is in the state qualifying rankings, as well, for her 50 freestyle.

Caroline Roderick booked her ticket to state with an automatic qualifying time in the 100 freestyle, as well as improving her state qualifying rank in the 100 backstroke. Caroline was also recently featured in STLToday. Read her story below.

CAROLINE'S STORY

BASKETBALL

Last Monday, Varsity played very well against Ursuline Academy. From a shooting percentage point of view, the Saints had one of their best games this season and all of the girls contributed in the game, but unfortunately, they couldn't beat the Bears. Eight players contributed to the scoreboard including Maria Adamitis (2), Courtney Grewe (3), Mollie Griesedieck (2), Ava Gueck (2), Peyton Horner (4), Nancy Metz (6), Katie Rodrigues, (5) and Allison Smith (3).

Junior Varsity also traveled to Ursuline last week. They played a great game, coming back several times, and losing by only five points. Megan Korte and Allison Smith each scored eight points and Mairin Schweppe scored six.

SPRING SPORTS TRYOUTS

The spring season for lacrosse, soccer, and track and field begins Monday, February 25, with intramural tennis beginning Monday, March 4. Any student who wishes to try out for a team must be at the first session. In addition, all student-athletes must have a physical on file prior to the start of tryouts.
