Oak Hill Nuts and Bolts | October 25, 2018

Image

This past Tuesday, Jonathan and I celebrated his "gotcha day" – the day when we legalized the adoption six weeks after his birth, and he officially became my son. He and I will talk about this from time to time, but we never dwell. This year, though, an unprompted question from him opened up the entire conversation about adoption. Several nights before this anniversary while snuggling before bedtime, he asked if he grew in my belly as a baby. He had lots of questions, and I had most of the answers. Main message: I was so lucky to get to choose him as a son, and I love him more than anything else in the world.

It reminded me of these verses from Ephesians 1:4-5 – "Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love, He predestined us to adoption through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will…". This could be a good thought for all of us to reflect upon – God chose us as his sons and daughters even before the foundation of the world. How often do we consider that God might feel so lucky to have had this opportunity?

Parent-teacher conferences are tomorrow, October 26 (see below). We look forward to seeing everyone on campus again and can't wait to share with you the growth your children have made. During conferences, I will be around the main office. Please stop by and say hello; I would love to see you!

Blessings,

Dr. Peter M. Schroeder

SHARE ABOUT OUR OPEN HOUSE

Invite your friends, neighbors, and relatives who might like to learn more about Oak Hill or Villa Duchesne to attend our Open House from noon to 4 pm Sunday, November 4. A perfect way to share our Open House information is to post an Open House sign in your yard. Yard signs can be picked up in the Oak Hill Office.

If you post an Open House sign in your yard, take a photo of your child next to it, and send it to admissions@vdoh.org, your child can earn an out-of-uniform day. We would appreciate it if you would also share this picture on your social media to help spread the word.

SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING

Bar none, the very best way to market a school is through parent and family networks. You are the authentic voice promoting Oak Hill to the outside world. You have family and friends (and they have family and friends, etc.) that may not have heard about all the great things we are doing here! Please be sure that you "share" our posts on Facebook and Twitter! This will go far to spread the Sacred Heart Strong message here at Oak Hill.

Oak Hill students will celebrate Halloween Wednesday, October 31, with an out-of-uniform day. Students are required to wear tennis shoes for gym and are encouraged to bring their Halloween costumes to change into just prior to the Halloween performance at 1:30 pm in Condie Hall followed by the parade in Kenefick Gym.
