"How immense God's Love is! It will call for boundless self-giving on your part." ∼Madeleine Sophie Barat

At our assembly this week, I spoke to the students about Goal Three—our commitment to educate to a social awareness which impels us to action. The idea of "action" really struck me as I prepared for this, so I weaved in a little science, as well. The notion that an object at rest stays at rest until acted upon is also true with our desire to help others. Our concern, compassion, and prayers for those who suffer stay at rest until we act upon them. Our awareness of others' needs should drive us to vigorous action. This also tied into our school Mass this week as we celebrated the feast of St. Vincent de Paul. He was very much impelled to act on behalf of the poor and the forgotten and can be a wonderful model for us to emulate as we live out Goal Three.

Blessings,

Dr. Peter M. Schroeder

EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION TEST

Today, September 27, at approximately 5 pm, we will conduct a test of our school broadcast system. A recorded message will be sent to your home, work, and mobile phone numbers as listed in your family records. We will be using this system to call you with important information throughout the school year. This includes early dismissal, late start, or school cancellation due to inclement weather.

If you DO NOT receive a phone call this afternoon, please email Jaime Bergfeld at jbergfeld@vdoh.org and explain which phone numbers need to be corrected in our database.

If you want to receive text notifications and have given us your mobile number, opt-in by simply texting "yes" to 67587. You will receive an almost immediate system response if you have successfully opted-in.

For additional information regarding notifications, please note the following from the Student-Parent Handbook: "Parents receive notification of school closings, campus closings, early dismissals or "snow schedules" (campus opens at 9 am/classes begin at 9:30 am) by our phone messaging system on provided home, work, and cell phones. Announcements are made on KSDK (Channel 5), www.vdoh.org, and 314.432.2021. In the event that bad weather occurs during school hours, the School decides whether or not to dismiss early. Students must report to the appropriate administrator before leaving."

BOOK DRIVE | ST. LOUIS CATHOLIC ACADEMY

New and gently used books will be collected for the St. Louis Catholic Academy in North St. Louis beginning Friday, October 5, and continuing each First Friday throughout the school year. Bins will be placed at the West Door and at the Duchesne Building. Books are needed for all grades and reading levels, from children's books to chapter books. Donated books will fill "treasure chests" in classrooms at St. Louis Catholic Academy and will be awarded to students for good behavior, birthdays, and academic successes. Books will be inscribed with the recipients' names so they can make them their own! Contact Maria Adamitis '20 at madamitis2020@vdoh.org if you have any questions.
