French delegation arrives in time to celebrate Global Service Day. GLOBAL SERVICE DAY
This morning, we welcomed a group of Sacred Heart visitors from France who are on a pilgrimage that includes visits to our campus, Florissant, Cathedral Basilica, The Academy in St. Charles, and Sugar Creek, Kansas. The group visited classrooms and offices and some of the members will be joining us for our Global Service Day, September 15, which is just two days away. WEST COUNTY COLLEGE FAIR
On Sunday, September 16, from 2-4 pm, Villa Duchesne will again co-host the West County Private High Schools College Fair held at CBC High School. More than 150 colleges and universities will be in attendance at this year's fair. A financial aid workshop will be available before the fair from 1:15-2 pm. Additional breakout sessions will run throughout the fair on topics such as selective college admission, standardized testing, military academies/ROTC, and college athletics. ANNUAL GIVING PLEDGE DAY
Cor Unum Annual Giving Pledge Day is in less than a week. Annual giving appeals are in the mail so be on the lookout for yours. Donate or pledge on Wednesday, September 19, and help your child's class be the grade with the highest parent participation rate. The grade with the highest parent participation will receive a special goƻter on Friday, September 21. Join the Cor Unum Journey and donate on #PledgeDay. PARENT CONFERENCES | SEPTEMBER 27-28
Parent-student-teacher conferences will take place from 4-7 pm Thursday, September 27, and from 7:30 am to noon Friday, September 28; classes will not be in session. We encourage students to attend these conferences with their parents.

Kendra Scott is hosting a Kendra Gives Back party at their Plaza Frontenac location from 11 am to 2 pm Saturday, September 29. Stop by and shop, and Kendra Scott will donate 20% of the sales to our Bonne Chance Auction.
GLOBAL STUDIES | SPAIN & MOROCCO 2019
The Social Studies Department's Summer Seminar in Global Studies is pleased to offer a trip to Spain and Morocco in June 2019 for our current juniors. If interested, please join Rebecca Rubin-Schlansky and Emily Kaplan for an informational meeting for parents and students at 6 pm Monday, October 1, in the Global Education Center. MOTHERS' CLUB LUNCHEON
Celebrate our Villa Duchesne and Oak Hill School community by joining us for the Mothers' Club Fall Luncheon at 11:30 am Wednesday, October 10, at Old Warson Country Club. Our special guest will be Villa alum Candace Bond McKeever '83. Candace was named by the Los Angeles County Commision For Women, Woman of the Year 2014.
Reservations for the luncheon are due no later than Wednesday, October 3.
STATE OF THE SCHOOL
We invite you to attend our State of the School meeting from 6 to 7 pm Thursday, October 11. Come hear from Head of School Michael F. Baber as well as board members and staff. The meeting will be held in the Global Education Center and will be followed by a wine and cheese reception.
COSTA RICA SERVICE TRIP
It is not too late to get information on the spring break service trip to Costa Rica for sophomores, juniors, and seniors. If you missed the meeting and would like more information please contact Science teacher Didi Noelker at dnoelker@vdoh.org or Art teacher Christine Sarra at csarra@vdoh.org. The application and deposit are due by Thursday, October 18. This trip marks the seventh year of our partnership with Costa Rica Explorations which was co-founded by Oak Hill alumnus John Rabenau and his wife Molly Alden-Rabenau. This trip can satisfy a student's senior service hours requirement.
MAROON PLATOON
Mothers' Club President Casey St. John and Fathers' Club President Dan Brown invite parents to join the Maroon Platoon. It is a new way for parents to weave themselves into the daily fabric of the school. We will help our students foster school spirit. We will support our faculty and administration. We will work directly with other school clubs and organizations to build community among students and adults.

Parents, if your daughter will be absent, arriving late, or leaving early from school, please notify the School at attendance-villa@vdoh.org. Emailing is preferred over using the attendance phone. Girls arriving at school late or leaving early must sign in or out in Mrs. Richardson's Office near the West Door on the ground floor.

College Corner, a valuable resource for parents and students, offers the latest information on college rep visits, opportunities to connect with colleges, scholarships, and much more. This webpage is updated weekly by our College Counseling Office, so bookmark it and visit often.
WEDNESDAY MORNING MASS
On Wednesday, September 19, we will pray for the Red Cross. Mass begins promptly at 7:15 am in the Chapel and usually concludes no later than 7:35 am. Mass is celebrated most Wednesdays at 7:15 am in our Chapel when school is in session. Everyone in our school community is invited and encouraged to attend. ROSARY
All are welcome at 8 am each Wednesday when school is in session in our Chapel to offer the Rosary to Mater for her motherly protection of our children and for all the faculty, staff, and religious of this community who play such a critical role in nurturing and teaching our children.
