Senior Meaghan Findley chose to spend a month this summer in a rural fishing village in Woe, Ghana, teaching English and helping to build a new school to fulfill her service learning commitment. Each year, our seniors live out Goal 3 by cumulatively serving more than 2,500 hours in communities both far and near.
Students in grades 7-12 are required to complete a designated number of service hours per year as a graduation requirement. Middle school students serve 10 hours and students in grades 9-11 must serve a minimum of 20 hours at social service agencies approved by the school. Before entering their senior year, students work with the Director of Service Learning Krista Richardson to plan and implement their Senior Service Project which entails a minimum of 40 hours.
