Passport to Summer

Passport to Summer 2018 welcomes students from all schools to experience athletics, academics, and adventure at Villa Duchesne and Oak Hill School. Campers are placed in groups by age and ability with staff handpicked to meet each group's needs. All programs take place on campus with Day Camps including a weekly field trip to a St. Louis attraction.
  • Day Camps are open to boys and girls entering JK3-Grade 6 for $295 per week with a discounted rate of $2,250 if a camper attends all eight weeks.
  • Athletic Camps are open to boys and girls entering K-grade 12 as specified below for $125 per session. High School Athletic Camps are only open to Villa Duchesne students per MSHAA regulations.
  • Academic Camps are open to Villa Duchesne students entering grades 7-12 as specified below with sessions priced between $295 and $1,950.
  • Service Camps are open to boys and girls entering grades 10-12 as specified below with sessions priced between $0 and $685.

Day Camps (boys and girls age 3-grade 6)

Day Camps are open to boys and girls entering JK3-Grade 6 for $295 per week with a discounted rate of $2,250 if a camper attends all eight weeks. Sessions run Monday through Friday from 9 am to 3 pm with the following included:
  • Weekly field trips to St. Louis attractions
  • Hot breakfast, lunch, and snacks served daily
  • Before and after care beginning at 7:15 am and ending at 6 pm
  • Staff trained in CPR and First Aid with a Registered Nurse on campus
  • Daily swimming lessons or free swim with Red Cross Certified Lifeguards

CAMP HOLIDAZE | June 4-8 & June 11-15
Celebrate all of your favorite holidays! Dress in costume for Halloween, bake cookies for Christmas, dye eggs for Easter, show your spirit for Fourth of July and more in this holiday-themed camp. The first week includes a trip to Upper Limits; the second, a trip to St. Louis City Museum.

UNDER THE BIG TOP | June 18-22 & June 25-29
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls of all ages -the circus is coming to town! Create animal balloons, juggle with friends, wield a fencing foil, and enjoy animal encounters. The first week includes a trip to the St. Louis Zoo; the second, a trip to Sky Zone.

CAMP EINSTEIN | July 9-13 & July 16-20
Aspiring scientists, get ready to explore engineering through LEGO robotics and participate in science projects and computer coding. The first session includes a trip to The Magic House; the second, a trip to the St. Louis Science Center.

AQUAPALOOZA | July 23-27 & July 30-August 3

Aquatic adventures commence as campers learn about the depths of the ocean and explore the wonders of the sea. Campers will launch water balloons and enjoy maritime escapades. Each session includes a trip to an area water park.

CYC Athletic Camps are open to students from all schools entering Kindergarten through Grade 8, unless otherwise noted for $125 per session.

This “boot camp” style prep course is conveniently placed just before the June ACT. It has been designed to help students become better test-takers by practicing sample tests and honing their skills.

GLOBAL STUDIES SUMMER SEMINAR | SANTA FE |
May 31-June 6 | $1950 | Grade 11
The Global Studies seminar series is excited to offer this interdisciplinary seminar on the history and art of the American West. Designed to introduce rising juniors to themes in their junior United States History course and led by Social Studies Department Chair Marty Rubio and Visual Arts Department Chair Christine Sarra, the course will explore U.S. history and art through the lens of the American West. Students will experience the often untold stories and cultures of the American west. From stories of Native Americans, to the Spanish and Mexican period, to the annexation by the United States, New Mexico offers a fascinating exploration of the complexity of U.S. history.

This course will include a few days in the classroom for important content and seminar-style discussions to best prepare students for experiential learning in and around Santa Fe. Students will travel to Santa Fe June 2-5. Travel details will be available once minimum registration is reached. Students must be registered by April 1, 2018, to attend. Eight (8) students must be registered by April 1, 2018 for this program to operate. A full refund will be given if the trip is cancelled by the school. Please note that this seminar is only available to Villa Duchesne students.

GLOBAL STUDIES SUMMER SEMINAR | NEW YORK CITY | May 29-June 6 | $1950 | Grade 10
This for-credit Social Studies course gives students the chance to explore the concept of globalization by travelling to New York City (from May 31-June 2) to explore the international history, culture, and economics of this great metropolis. Working with Social Studies teachers Rebecca Rubin-Schlansky and Emily Kaplan, students will enrich their learning by visiting Wall Street and the financial district, the 9/11 Memorial, Ellis Island, and other sites. They will also learn skills and themes helpful in their sophomore World Civilizations II course.


This course will include a few days in the classroom for important content and seminar-style discussions to best prepare students for experiential learning in New York City. Students will travel to New York City May 31 - June 2. Travel details will be available once minimum registration is reached. Students must be registered by April 1, 2018, to attend. Eight (8) students must be registered by April 1, 2018 for this program to operate. A full refund will be given if the trip is cancelled by the school. Please note that this seminar is only available to Villa Duchesne students.


GLOBAL STUDIES SUMMER SEMINAR | CHICAGO | June 11-19 | $1400 | Grade 9
This engaging seminar offers incoming freshmen an exciting introduction to high school life and to the global education they will experience at Villa Duchesne. English and Theology teachers Catherine Kruse and Stacy Henning on an exploration of topics in global studies, including ancient civilizations, commerce & globalization, and immigration. Students will experience these topics through trips to the Field Museum, the Federal Reserve Museum, a boat tour of Chicago’s world-famous architecture, and a tour of immigrant history. Along the way, they will acquire key study skills helpful for success their freshman year and beyond.
This course will include a few days in the classroom for important content and seminar-style discussions to best prepare students for experiential learning in the Windy City. Students will travel to Chicago June 14-16. Travel details will be available once minimum registration is reached. Students must be registered by April 1, 2018, to attend. Eight (8) students must be registered by April 1, 2018 for this program to operate. A full refund will be given if the trip is cancelled by the school. Please note that this seminar is only available to Villa Duchesne students.

Service Camps (Boys and Girls Grades 10-12)

A cornerstone of a Sacred Heart education is Goal III: a social awareness that impels to action. Passport to Summer is pleased to offer these service opportunities to students to make the world a better place through service to others.
AIM HIGH @ VILLA | June 14- July 20 | No Cost | Grades 10-12
Villa Duchesne and Oak Hill School hosts Aim High for a fourth summer in 2018, and needs student volunteers to serve as Teaching Assistants (TAs). Aim High St. Louis is a tuition-free personal and academic enrichment program for motivated middle school students, most of whom come from challenging circumstances or environments. During the course of their middle school years – rising 6th through 9th grades – Aim High Achievers participate in a 5-week summer academic enrichment program.


TAs assist classroom teachers by working with Aim High students in the classroom, in the dining hall, on the bus, and at recess. Villa Duchesne Faculty and Staff will work with volunteers on a weekly basis to discuss the impact of volunteerism and programs like Aim High that strive to provide quality education to all members of our community.

SERVICE DEEP IN THE (SACRED) HEART OF TEXAS | June 11-15 | $685| Grades 11-12

Join Principal Bridget Collins as she heads to Houston, Texas to aid in the hurricane disaster relief and fulfill your school year service requirement. You will visit two Sacred Heart schools on the journey and spend quality time with classmates.
