The technology program at Villa Duchesne is designed to support and extend the use of computers, software, and electronic information for academic purposes. In the seventh and eighth grades, students learn keyboarding, basic applications software, research skills, and the role of computers in society. In tandem with these fundamental classes, learning the uses of technology is integrated into regular course work through the use of Tablet PCs in a 1:1 environment. For those students who are interested in extending their knowledge and competencies in technologies, the school offers AP Computer Science, Graphic Arts, and Web Design for tenth through twelfth graders.
The technology curriculum remains open and responsive to developments in the world of technology and the expanding interests of our students.

Tablet PC Program
All seventh through twelfth grade students lease a Tablet PC. This lightweight computer provides the mobility required for daily school use. Students have the option of entering notes into memory either by handwriting or typing.
Each tablet is loaded with all the software necessary for school applications and connectivity and is equipped with the speed and storage space needed for college preparatory work. Additionally, students can electronically turn in their homework on the school's secure website portal and further back up their work on their own USB flashdrives, external hard drives, or the website portal.
During summer training sessions, Villa Duchesne's Technology Department teaches students and their parents how to use the many features of their Tablet PCs. New students attend a technology camp to further support the proper use of the Tablet PC on campus. Current students attend "back-to-school" technology sessions to ready their computers for return to school.
This one-on-one computing program is designed to provide Villa graduates with an unparalleled level of confidence in using technology to enhance critical-thinking skills and problem-solving abilities and develop "smart" consumers.
Throughout the campus, students have wireless access to networked printers, network drives and the Internet. All classrooms are equipped with projectors and white boards to enhance classroom presentations. Smartboards and Mimios provide interactive capabilities in all classrooms and conference areas around the school. Our PC lab provides a scanner, supportive software, and equipment for producing the yearbook and school newspaper. The upgraded technology resources of the Library provide students with sophisticated research capabilities in a classroom setting. The Foreign Language Department has access to a language lab capable of supporting and enhancing its strong modern language programs.
Villa Duchesne continues to equip itself with visionary technology tools for teaching and learning. Our goal is to educate students to live effectively in an ever-changing world.
