English

At Villa Duchesne girls learn to write well. One hundred percent of our seniors are ready for college-level work in English (compared with only 73 percent in the state and 66 percent in the nation). The cornerstone of the Villa Duchesne English program is the individual writing conference. Each student meets individually with her English teacher an average of six times per year to conference her writing. Each student revises her work so that she can submit a new composition, based on the discussion in conference and the completed editing changes, for a second grade.

"In computing class, we did a career project and we had to make a PowerPoint. We had to research all of this information. I knew I wanted to be a doctor that worked with infants and so I looked up Neonatology and I really liked it."
