Welcome from our Villa Duchesne Principal
I have personally experienced the incredible richness of our International Network of Sacred Heart Schools. The Indian girl sitting cross legged on a mat diligently doing her homework, the young boy blowing on a conch shell to announce our arrival in Peru, Maori girls dancing in New Zealand or the student in the tropical heat of Uganda asking me what snow was like. Whether the setting was exotic or more familiar, there was always an atmosphere in each of these schools that those familiar with Sacred Heart education would recognize.
Being part of the larger Sacred Heart family, our frame of reference should expand. Attitudes of humility and openness need to be developed. Increasingly we should be able to let go of our preconceived notions of cultural superiority and engage in real intercultural dialogue. In this process of mutual giving and receiving we come to discover our place and our responsibilities within the human family.
Using my own intercultural experience and knowledge of the extended Sacred Heart network I am always searching for new ways that our faculty might contribute to the growth of our students at Villa Duchesne in mind, body, and spirit.
I invite you to learn more about us.
