Computing 7
This class introduces students to Windows-based computing including familiarity with the basic functions of the Microsoft Suite software ~ Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Primary focus is on the development of proper keyboarding skills, with emphasis given to form and accuracy over speed. Students use spreadsheets for record keeping, work with Macromedia graphics tools, and are introduced to the history and components of computers.
Computing 8
This class builds on the fundamentals learned in Computing 7. Keyboarding is reviewed, with development of improved speed. Subsequent units include creation and advanced use of spreadsheets, advanced PowerPoint multimedia design, technology based research and the social implications of technology. Students enjoy learning programming with the use of Scratch from MIT.
Graphic Arts
Introduction to Adobe PhotoShop for graphics industry and web development. Students will become familiar with basic PhotoShop operation as well as related topics such as scanning techniques and color theory. In 2007, this course became offered through the Fine Arts curriculum.
Web Publishing
Introduction to the web development and authoring process. Students will be introduced to site design, web publishing software and HyperText Markup Language (HTML). Students will also learn about browsers and search engines, ISP, and the history of the World Wide Web. Issues of color use on the web will be examined and graphics file optimization and processing will be explored. In 2007, this course became offered through the Fine Arts curriculum.

A+ Certification
A+ certification is a one semester course that prepares students to successfully complete the A+ certification exam for skills required of an entry-level computer technician. Students receive instruction and hands-on practice working with computer hardware and software. The A+ program emphasizes the installation, maintenance and trouble-shooting of computer systems. In 2008, this course has become an independent study where students participate in an active learning environment with the technology department.
AP Computer Science (formerly Computer Languages)
In this one semester course students are introduced to the principles of modern programming languages and engage in a comparative study of syntax, semantics, and pragmatics of high-level programming languages. The course also surveys major developments in programming languages. There is an introduction to contemporary programming paradigms and their related languages, including procedural, functional, logic, algorithms, and object-oriented languages. The mechanisms for sequence control, data structure implementation and run-time storage management within each type of language are discussed. In 2008, this course was converted and rewritten into AP Computer Science and added to the Mathematics curriculum as a year-long elective.
