Marty Rubio teaches Western Civilization and American Government & Economics. Mr. Rubio is the Social Studies Department Instructional Leader. He is in his ninth year at Villa Duchesne, and he has eight years previous teaching experience in Catholic schools. Before teaching, he worked in Washington, D.C. as a paralegal and as an intern for an interest group on Capitol Hill.
He graduated with a B.A. in Economics (cum laude) from Yale University and is currently working on a Masters in Liberal Arts from Washington University.

Anna G. Ahrens currently teaches American Civics to the eighth grade. She is in her thirtieth year at Villa Duchesne as a teacher and her 41th year in toto, having attended both The City House and Villa Duchesne, class of 1974. Her B.A. 1978 is from Smith College in history. She has studied with a U.S. Congress and German Bundestag seminar in foreign service. Currently, she lives with her husband, three cats, and one dog in Des Peres. |

Diane Gioia currently teaches 9th grade, Moral Development/Personal Growth, and 12th grade Psychology. She is in her tenth year at Villa Duchesne and has recently returned from a teaching stint in Taiwan through the Sacred Heart Cultural Exchange program. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a B.E.S. in Counseling and Psychology. |

Anthony Loveday, a native of the great state of California, attended U.C. Berkeley where he earned a B.A. in History in 1998 and a M.A. in History in 2000. After teaching at The College Preparatory School in Oakland, California, for three years, he moved to Saint Louis in 2004 and has loved this city ever since. Now entering his fourth year at Villa Duchesne, he is teaching United States History, Mid-East/Far East, and Western Civilization. |

Kendra Reif teaches World Geography and Cultures. Before beginning her teaching career, Ms. Reif practiced law in Missouri and California. Ms. Reif earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan (cum laude), and her Bachelors Degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri (with honors certificate). She is certified to teach the social sciences in grades five through 12. |

Rebecca Rubin-Schlansky graduated from Columbia University in 2005 with a degree in American History and Education (with honors). After graduation, she worked with boarding school students in New England, but she was excited to move home to St. Louis to teach at Villa last year. She is thrilled to be teaching Mid-East/Far-East and Women's Studies this year. |

Costan Spina has taught at Villa Duchesne since 1980. He has taught Western Civilization and Mid-East/Far East, and he currently teaches American and European History. His philosophy is based on the assumption that all students can excel in learning.
After earning his Bachelor in Arts and Masters Degrees in history from Michigan State University, he completed his Secondary Teacher Certification from the University of Michigan. He went on to do post graduate work at the University of Michigan in American diplomatic history. He also studied at the University of Leningrad in the former Soviet Union and taught history at the Detroit Institute of Technology.
Mr. Spina enjoys eating healthy food and painting toy soldiers.
