A published poet, Ms. Suzanne Billhymer loves traveling the world and reading about it. She adores her daughter Leslie and her Villa Duchesne students. Ms. Billhymer currently teaches English Honors 9 and English 10.

For more than two decades, Ms. Shelley Grady's American and British literature classes have helped Villa students prepare for the Advanced Placement exam and for the challenge of college-level reading and writing.

Mrs. Liz McDonald has taught English at Villa Duchesne for many years in both the middle and the high school. After nineteen years in the 9th grade, Mrs. McDee (as she is lovingly called by her students) has returned to the middle school and loves it. "The enthusiasm and energy of the students is awesome," Mrs. McDee reports. She brings her love of literature to the students' study of basic genres. Mrs. McDee also works on basic public speaking skills with her students and she incorporates technology into her curriculum in order to support the students' learning. In her spare time, Mrs. McDee expresses her creativity through needlepointing.

In her third decade of teaching English and with forty-six visits to Europe logged during her career, Dr. Connie Schmollinger thoroughly enjoys teaching English Nine. Surrounded by artifacts from her travels and with a picture to illustrate every point, Dr. Schmollinger strives to bring the classics of Western literature to life for each of her students.

With a bachelor of science in education and a major in English from Missouri State University, Ms. Kara Sperlo is thrilled to be teaching British Literature and World Literature at Villa Duchesne.  This is her third year teaching at Villa, and she finds much satisfaction in the rich traditions of a Sacred Heart education.  For the two years prior to teaching at Villa, Ms. Sperlo lived and worked in South Korea and was fortunate enough to circle the globe and travel through the Far East, Eastern Europe, and Greece by train as she slowly made her way back to America. Most recently, she sojourned in England where she visited a variety of literary hotspots, and she looks forward to sharing these enriching experiences with her classes. Ms. Sperlo is currently pursuing her MA in English.

Bringing his love of the theatre to every area of teaching, Mr. Brian Welch also teaches one section of American literature. Mr. Welch's love of the literature comes through in every lecture and assignment--particularly with the great American playwrights.
Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Mrs. Elizabeth Yee teaches English 7 and one section of English 8.  She earned her bachelor's degree in English from Washington University and her master's degree in teaching from Webster University.  When not inspiring future great communicators, Mrs. Yee enjoys spending time with her husband and their three children.
