Villa Duchesne's Fine Arts Department Faculty

Mrs. Christine Sarra, the Fine Arts Department Instructional Leader, has been teaching Drawing and Painting in the Fine Arts department at Villa Duchesne High School since 1998. An accomplished painter and photographer, she is currently showing work in St. Louis and New York City. Mrs. Sarra encourages a love and appreciation of art making in each of her students, and instills an awareness of the wonder, complexity, and beauty of the world around them. |

Ms. Laurie Blaes joined the Villa Duchesne Faculty in 2000. She continues to teach Middle School Art, High School Ceramics and Sculptures. Ms. Blaes exhibits her sculptures in St. Louis and in many national exhibitions. She wants all of her students to learn how to be creative individuals and appreciate the time, energy and skills it takes to be an artist. |

Ms. Susan Voelpel has been teaching art for over 15 years in various art intensive studio programs throughout the community. She began teaching Graphic Arts and Web Design at Villa Duchesne in 2006. Her artwork references the botanical and finding the extraordinary in the ordinary. Ms. Voelpel loves sharing her process of creative exploration with her students and encourages each one to discover their own inner voice. |
