  Oak Hill Computing

Oak Hill seeks to furnish students with learning opportunities that provide exposure not only to computers, but also to other developing technology. Computer/technology instruction is viewed as an avenue not only to teach word processing skills, but also to promote creative thinking and develop research skills. The technology department and the classroom teachers work closely in coordinating research projects that utilize the various resources of the Internet. The major emphasis of the program is to engender in students the technical knowledge and skills they need today, as well as prepare them for tomorrow.

Formal computer instruction begins at the kindergarten level and is provided through sixth grade. Students attend one lab session per week where they learn to use logic, perform problem solving tasks, and use the computer to fulfill specific language arts assignments. As students progress through the grades word processing is mastered. A computer lab is available to Oak Hill students. Laptop computers are placed as learning centers in Junior Kindergarten through First Grade. Laptop carts are provided in grades 2-5 and two Tablet PC carts are located in Sixth Grade.

All Oak Hill classrooms are fit with whiteboards, a Mimio (device which enables an interactive board), an installed projector or multi-media cart with a projector, and a digital camera.  Teachers are committed to infusing these technology tools within their curriculum to provide differentiated instruction for Oak Hill students.
